CHECK IT OUT... best vintage shopping in Williamsburg
Need anything? Anything at all? One of the most annoying things about being a good human on the planet and vintage/thrift shopping all of your clothes, is having an idea of something in particular that you want and not being able to find it! There is always the running list of vintage gold that you're hoping to strike while vintage or thrift shopping, but the next time there is a particular hole in your wardrobe or you're convinced that you "NEED" something and you're in the NYC area, you gotta try this place out!
On the eve of my most recent birthday, I tried on all of the things in my closet that have been WAITING for this moment and, nothing fit. Convinced that I needed something new for my big night, I headed to 10ft Single by Stella Dallas. They have two stores right next to each other, the larger containing every vintage wardrobe staple you could possibly imagine, beautifully organized by color and type of garment at reasonable prices. The smaller, housing the more high-end, homewares (rugs, blankets, and other objet d'art) and specialty items (kimonos, gown, Hermes silk scarves). I didn't know of this before jumping in the deep-end and spent the majority of the time in the former digging through dresses. I would take a peak at the higher-end store first before diving in fully to the main store. Being quite indecisive, I was glad to be able to put a couple items on hold as everything there is as is/final sale! I ended up going back the next day to retrieve the cute blue polka dot dress for my birthday and a sweet turquoise silk top for another day. Make sure you carve out a good couple hours to dig here!
PROS: wonderfully organized, incredible variety in selection and size, reasonable pricing, 24hr holds.
CONS: claustrophobic AF (packed to the gills, this could be a pro or con depending on the person), customer service (guaranteed to find yourself saying "do you work here?"), allergens (ACHOOO).
Have you been here before? What did you think?
